A BURGLARY suspect was arrested after failing to show up for court.

Daniel Kelly, of High Close, Almondbury, appeared before Kirklees magistrates yesterday.

He faces a charge of attempted burglary at a Grange Moor property on August 5.

Kelly, 19, denies the charge and has elected to stand trial at Leeds Crown Court.

A committal with his co-accused Stephen Barrett was due to take place on December 13.

However Kelly failed to attend and a warrant was issued for his arrest.

Kelly’s solicitor Bob Carr said that his client had simply got his dates mixed up. He said Kelly went to the police station and handed himself in as soon as he realised his mistake.

Magistrates agreed to readmit Kelly to unconditional bail to appear at crown court on January 10.

For failing to attend the magistrates’ court Kelly was fined £35 and £20 a victim surcharge.
