A COMMUNITY project will receive a £20,000 ‘golden grant’ to help create a safe paved route in the Golcar area.
The scheme has been organised by the Golcar Lily Project and involves a route from from Sycamore Court to Golcar village centre.
The scheme includes new lighting, railings and seating along with a re-flagged pavement and new trees.
It aims to improve the image of the area, to provide a safer, cleaner environment and to reduce fear of crime.
The grant has been awarded by the Colne Valley Area committee.
Clr Christine Iredale, Lib Dem councillor for the Golcar Ward, said the grant would increase the safety of the area and improve its appearance.
