LUCKY Examiner winner Evelyn Dawson got the chance to rub shoulders with the Queen in the VIP marquee yesterday. The 81-year-old was chosen to enjoy afternoon tea with the royal party while they watched the concert.
Mrs Dawson - who shares the same birthday as the Queen - was accompanied by Jacquie Roeder, the friend who nominated her in the competition.
Mrs Dawson, dressed in a cream suit and hat, said: "I thought the Queen was lovely and I feel very lucky to have had the chance to be here.
"It really means a lot to me."
Mrs Roeder, who founded the Laura Crane Trust charity in memory of her daughter, said: "It is a privilege and it has been fantastic watching all the crowds singing along to the concert. "
A royal insider said the St George's Square reception was one of the warmest welcomes the Queen had had in recent times.
