DRIVERS on the worst roads in Kirklees have been promised relief.
The Cabinet decided yesterday to spend £3m in 2008/09 on road repairs in areas with poor highways.
The money will go to the five wards with the longest backlog of work – Almondbury, Greenhead, Colne Valley, Holme Valley South and Dewsbury South.
Council leader Clr Robert Light welcomed the funding. The Conservative said: “This shows the real commitment to improve roads in Kirklees. Both Labour and the Lib Dems have contributed to ensure this money is targeted in the right areas. It’s a good example of different groups working together.”
