A DISPLAY about restoration work for Huddersfield's biggest park goes on show tomorrow.

Visitors to Greenhead Park will be told about plans involving an ornamental lake, the Japanese-style wooden bandstand and the Italian garden fountain.

And they will be urged to join a revamped Friends of Greenhead group.

A £3.5m Heritage Lottery Fund grant is being sought to allow work to start in the summer of 2007.

Kirklees Council parks development officer Robert Whittaker will be giving a presentation and there will be photos and displays to look at plus refreshments.

The event will start at 12.30pm and will be held in a portable building in the depot by the skate park.

Clr John Smithson, the council's deputy leader, said Greenhead Park was one of the recreational jewels of the area.

He said: "We need to make it a major attraction again for visitors, local people, and organised events and activities.

"I would urge everyone to attend the exhibition and come and see what is happening."
