STUDENT Hannah Blake is swapping the classroom for conservation.
The 18-year-old former Greenhead College student has been selected to take part in a volunteer programme – in New Zealand.
For the Marsh student it’s something she’s always wanted to do.
Hannah, a first year sociology student at Hull University, said: “I’ll be working on conservation projects such as habitat restoration, environmental issues and working to protect wildlife.
“It will be physically demanding, I’ll be planting trees and restoring buildings.
“This experience will broaden my awareness of environmental issues, giving me hands-on practical experience in conservation.
“My team will be dedicated to working in areas such as endangered species preservation and habitat restoration.
“I will also learn about sustainable management resources and how to use the natural environment responsibly.”
Hannah is holding car boot sales and taking part in sponsored walks to raise the £3,000 she needs to fund the July trip, organised by the International Student Volunteers.
