A PUB landlord accused of groping and threatening a teenage waitress may have his case retried after a jury at Bradford Crown Court failed to reach a verdict.

The jury was out for four hours and 20 minutes yesterday, but could not decide whether Charles Cart- wright, 43, of the Beaumont Arms at Kirk- heaton, was guilty of indecent assault.

The 17-year-old waitress, who cannot be named for legal reasons, had said Cartwright asked her to use the computer in the study above the pub to do some Mother's Day menus last March.

She said that while she was at the computer he came up behind and put his hands on her breasts and then moved them towards her zip.

She also said he had told her that he loved her, but threatened to make her life a `living hell' if she told anyone.

Cartwright denies the allegations and told the court that the incident was a `fixation of her imagination'.

Prosecuting barrister Simon Haring asked for a two-week adjournment, to decide whether or not to pursue the case.
