BRIGHOUSE Historical Society met to find out more about the home of the Brontë sisters.

At its latest meeting the society was given a talk by Ian Dewhirst about the village of Haworth at the time of the famous authors.

The family moved there in 1820 and their former home is now the Brontë Parsonage Museum.

The next meeting is on March 9 at 7.30pm at Brighouse Rest Centre.

The speaker will be Ann Bradley, from the National Coal Mining Museum.

She will be giving a talk entitled ‘Mining Disasters – Rescue and Recovery’. New members are welcome.
