YOUNG adults with Down Syndrome served up coffee and cakes at a Huddersfield church on Saturday.
The United Reformed Church in Moldgreen hosted Huddersfield Down Syndrome Support Group’s coffee morning and bake sale, which raised £75.
Parents from the group provided the cakes while the young adults brewed the coffee, sold the cakes and washed up afterwards.
The event was aimed at raising awareness of how the group is helping its young adults.
Proceeds from the coffee morning will go towards setting up a social enterprise group to help those who have left college prepare for work. It is also hoped to open a charity shop in the Moldgreen area where young people can gain valuable work experience and expand their working skills, also forging links with the local community.
