A GUNMAN fired three shots at a busy Huddersfield church.

The shots - thought to be from a high-powered airgun - broke double- glazed windows at Primrose Hill Baptist Church as worshippers arrived for an evening service.

Luckily no-one was hurt in the incident, but Pastor John Bryce, minister at the church, at Cross Lane, was very angry.

"There were a lot of people at the church, as we had just finished an 80th birthday party for one of our members and people were arriving for the evening service.

"Had the gunman aimed a little lower, he could well have hit people at the church door.

"The pellets went through newly-installed double-glazed windows, so the weapon must have been a powerful one."

Police are investigating the incident at 5.05pm on Sunday.
