POLICE are hunting a gunman after a shooting in Huddersfield.

Officers were alerted when a man went to a hospital in West Yorkshire with a gunshot injury to his right forearm.

Police are not naming the hospital for security reasons.

Police attended at 8.30pm last night and discovered that a 22-year-old Huddersfield man had been shot in the Manchester Road area of Longroyd Bridge.

It is thought the shooting happened shortly after 8pm in an area close to Earnshaws motorcycles.

The area has been sealed off for a detailed forensic examination today.

A police spokeswoman said: "The man's injuries are not considered life threatening.

"His condition is currently stable after undergoing surgery."
