A gang threatened a man with a suspected handgun in a terrifying robbery in his OWN home.

The armed gang of four men entered the 47-year-old man’s home in Oakes Road in Oakes at night.

One of the thugs produced the weapon before the victim was struck in the face and had demands for cash.

The traumatic ordeal only ended when the gang had ransacked the house and fled.

They stole the man’s mobile phone and his wallet in the attack which happened on at 9.45pm on Saturday.

Police are now investigating the incident but believe the victim was targeted by the gang who entered the house by an unlocked rear door.

Det Insp Ian Thornes, of Kirklees CID, said: “We are appealing for witnesses to this offence which we believe was targeted and not a random attack and are investigating the circumstances of what took place.

“We would like to speak to anyone who saw a group of men behaving suspiciously on Oakes Road shortly before the offence took place.

“We also want to hear from anyone who saw people fleeing the scene, or has any information which may assist us.

“We would also like to speak to anyone who perhaps saw a vehicle which may have been unusual for the area or being driven in a suspicious manner.”

The robbery happened between 9.45pm and 10pm on March 29.

Anyone who has information should contact Det Con Pete Usher at Kirklees CID on 101 or CrimeStoppers on 0800 555 111.

Police also want to speak to the people in the gallery below about offences unconnected with the Oakes attack. If you recognise anyone you can contact police in 101 and quote the refence number next to the image.
