A SCHOOL fun run has raised more than £550 for a cancer charity.

The 157 children from Holy Trinity Primary School, Halifax, took part in a one-mile fun run at the Youth Against Cancer event held at their school.

The school was raising money for the Huddersfield-based Laura Crane Youth Cancer Trust, which funds research into better treatments of young cancer patients and supports projects that help with the feelings of isolation and loneliness by young people with cancer.

The charity was set up in 1996 as a tribute to Laura Crane, who died of cancer two weeks after her 17th birthday.

The children collected loose change and were sponsored to take part in the one-mile fun run held on the school’s playing fields, raising £573.89.

The event was supported by donations of bottled water from Angel Springs, based in Elland, as well as Sainsbury’s, Halifax.
