Twitter was flooded with messages about the future of Huddersfield A&E today.

At 12.30pm, the Examiner's Thunderclap to raise awareness of the Right Care, Right Time, Right Place public consultation caused a social media rumbling.

In total, 588 people signed up to join our Twitter rallying cry — and this lunchtime streams of tweets, all with the hashtag #HandsOffHRI, were posted to the site.

Our #HandsOffHRI thunderclap

A Thunderclap is when people sign up — via social media — to post specific message on a specific day and time, spreading campaign messages and other media through sites including Facebook, Twitter and Tumblr.

We wanted to make sure everyone knew the public consultation began today — and direct them to a link where they could read all about it.

We also hit the road with our Save Huddersfield A&E Battle Bus, visiting PPG Canalside, the University, St George's Square, Holme Moss and more.

Tomorrow we'll be back on the Battle Bus, travelling around Huddersfield to spread the word about our campaign to save HRI's A&E.

Today's Thunderclap was testament to the amazing support for the Examiner's campaign and the #HandsOffHRI movement — thank you to everyone who participated.
