Petition is delivered at Downing Street

Well that’s it - the petition has been delivered! We’ve had word that no-one official would come out to accept it, but the petition is signed and delivered - but as for sealed will it be enough to unseal the deal on closing our A&E?

Group reach Downing Street - and pause for selfie!

The campaigners have now got to Downing Street and have been joined by our local MPs! But that hasn’t stopped them pausing for a quick selfie.

Hands Off HRI arrive in Trafalgar Square

They have arrived! Hands Off HRI are now in Trafalgar Square and have joined campaigners from across the country to protest against cuts to hospitals.

Hands Off HRI auction

While we’re waiting on the group to arrive in London, why not consider buying tickets to the Hands Off HRI fundraising auction on Friday?

There are some amazing prizes up for grabs, with Huddersfield Town reserving a top table for hard-working local NHS staff, which you can nominate by emailing contact@handsoffhri.com.

The auction takes place at 7pm on October 15 at Cedar Court at Ainley Top. Tickets are £25 each or £280 for a table of 12.

Good morning and welcome to the petition day live blog!

Good morning all. The group have set off from St Georges Square now as the coach is heading towards Trafalgar Square. Campaigners have unveiled their new banner - what do you think?

Stay with us all through today as we let you know how they are getting on.

The campaign will be joined later by our local MPs Barry Sheerman, Paula Sherriff and Jason McCartney, who have all come out in support of the campaign.
