HUDDERSFIELD dancer Hannah Whiteley has won a place in the West End show Sweet Charity.

The musical, which is to be held at the Theatre Royal on Drury Lane, is a one-off gala performance and will be held on Sunday.

It is to be hosted by TV presenter Gail Porter and Eastenders actress Barbara Windsor, will also be involved.

Hannah, 21, of Outlane, said: "I'm really excited about the show.

"Thousands of people auditioned so I am really lucky to be part of it."

Those performing in the show will have only 48 hours to rehearse. Hannah said: "We start rehearsing on Friday. I haven't even met the rest of the cast yet!"

All proceeds made from the show will go to the British Heart Foundation.

Hannah said: "It's great to be helping out the charity."

Hannah, who studied at Greenhead College, has been dancing since she was three years old at the Patricia Stoj School of Theatre and Dance.

She has taken part in many dance competitions, including the Huddersfield Stage Dance Festival and the All-England Dance Competition.

Hannah was set to study medicine at Imperial College London after gaining four grade As at A-level, but chose to pursue her dream to dance on the West End Stage.

She said: "I would still like to study medicine when I am older, but for now I want to concentrate on my dancing."

She won a scholarship to the Bird College of Performing Arts, London, and recently graduated with a 2:1 degree in Dance and Theatre Performance.
