ELLEN Underwood today has a very special birthday.

She’s 12-years-old on the 12th of the 12, 2012 – and that 12/12/12 date won’t come up again for another 100 years.

Ellen (left), of Longwood, realised the special date after last year’s birthday.

But the talented young dancer and acrobat didn’t want a big party to celebrate, which her mum suggested – instead she had a small party at the weekend.

Today she’ll wake up and open an iPhone, a gift from mum Luan, dad Toby and nine-year-old sister Olivia.

Luan said: “I wanted her to have a big party, but she wanted something smaller and her wishes won.

“She was actually born at 3pm, a few hours after what would have been even more rare had she been born at midday.”

Ellen, a year seven pupil at Crossley Heath School, Halifax, also shares her birthday with her dance teacher, Abigail Warburton.

Ellen is a keen dancer, spending more than 10 hours a week perfecting her talent at the Abigail Warburton Stage School in Ripponden.

Also sharing the rare 12/12/12 birthday are two Bradley 16-year-olds who grew up together.

Denjoe O’Connor and Ashley Jones are childhood friends who share the same birthday.

Denjoe is a pupil at Rastrick High School and will celebrate with a meal with family and friends.

His mum Bridget said: “It was me who realised it was an unusual date – I’m more excited about it than he is I think.

“It’s nice him and Ashley have it together, they’ve grown up together and it’s nice they’ve got this unusual birthday this year.”

Ashley is a pupil at All Saints Catholic College.
