Film crews have been hard at work in Brighouse on the second series of hit crime drama Happy Valley.

A huge production operation has been under way in the town this week, with dozens of technical staff joining the stars of the show.

They have been filming in former council offices in Lawson Road, which have been empty for some time, and also at other locations around the town.

Local photographer Stuart Black saw the crews at work.

Quiz: Happy Valley has reached its thrilling end - but how well do you know your TV detectives?

He said: “They had taken over the car park in Daisy Street as a base and it was just like something out of Hollywood.

“There were a huge number of trucks and other vehicles and people were working from 6am until very late at night”.

Happy Valley was an award-winning drama the first time around.

It was created by Huddersfield-born writer Sally Wainwright and stars former Coronation Street and Where The Heart Is star Sarah Lancashire as a no-nonsense police officer.

The show’s violent scripts shocked many but it went on to win a host of awards.

The second series again has former Huddersfield detective Bob Bridgestock as a consultant and filming is taking place all over the region, including Huddersfield.

The BAFTA-award winning drama is back and fans will be pleased to know that production is already on the way.

It was recently reported that two other former Coronation Street stars Katherine Kelly and Julie Hesmondhalgh will be joining the cast of BBC mega-hit.

The series is expected to be screened in 2016.
