A broadcasting date for the second series of Happy Valley has not been set – despite Twitter reports to the contrary.

A Twitter fan page for actress Sarah Lancashire claimed the series would be back on TV in June.

But the rumour has been scotched by the BBC which says the second season of the gritty crime drama is yet to be filmed.

A BBC spokesperson said: “We haven’t filmed the second series so there is currently no set TX (transmission) date.”

Happy Valley, filmed around Huddersfield and Calderdale, casts Lancashire as Sgt Catherine Cawood, who falls headfirst into a kidnap and murder case which she soon discovers is personal.

The series, which received millions of viewers and rave reviews, is written by Elland-born Sally Wainwright who wrote top TV series Last Tango in Halifax, Scott & Bailey and Unforgiven.

The first series of Happy Valley was filmed at North Light Film Studios, Brookes Mill, Armitage Bridge, as well as around Huddersfield, Hebden Bridge, Sowerby Bridge and other parts of Calderdale.

North Light Film Studios is one of the largest independent studios in the north and has a variety of land and buildings which offer wide scope to directors.

Other notable productions screened there include 1920s gangster drama series Peaky Blinders, film When The Lights Went Out and ghost story Remember Me.
