HAIRDRESSERS Chris Parr and Joe Mercer are a cut above the rest.

They won three awards for their styling skills, after taking part in a prestigious annual hairdressing event at the Winter Garden in Blackpool.

The pair, both 21 and from Bradford, represented their workplace Taylors & Co, based in Brighouse, in the event.

Some 200 fellow coiffers competed in 16 categories in their bid to be named top of the crops.

Chris and Joe won awards, presented by the National Hairdressing Federation, for Best Streetwise Man, City Gent and the Cutter Crazy award.

The Streetwise Man award was presented for the best funky haircut for the man about town and City Gent for the best clean-cut look for the man in the office.

Chris and Joe snipped their own styles for the Cutter Crazy award, using their trade tools to carve out crazy patterns for the just-for- fun award.

Chris has been working at the salon for three years and colleague Joe for six.

Chris said: "The competition is the biggest in the UK and were are proud to have won such big awards - it was a really good result."

"I hope to own my own salon in the future, perhaps in Australia."

Chris and Joe are representing their salon again at the Yorkshire Hairdressing Championships in Halifax in November.
