AN illustrated talk on the town’s ghost stories is to take place at Huddersfield Library on Tuesday.

Huddersfield author Kai Roberts will be giving the talk between 7pm and 8.30pm which will highlight ghostly goings-on from the area.

Mr Roberts is the author of several books including one on Haunted Huddersfield and other publications on Robin Hood’s Grave and Yorkshire folklore.

He said: “Haunted Huddersfield presents a survey of ghostly lore in the region, from traditional headless spectres to modern poltergeist manifestations.

“Whilst we live in a supposedly rational, secular age such tales stubbornly persist in the public psyche and, whatever their truth, much can be learnt about how we relate to our environment by studying them. And as the old saying goes, you don't have to believe in ghosts to be afraid of them."

Tickets are £2 (£1 with Kirklees passports) and are available from Huddersfield Visitor Centre, any Kirklees Box Office, tel 01484 223200, 01924 324501, or online: www.kirklees.gov.uk/townhalls/boxoffice
