A HEADTEACHER has urged parents to park considerately after a pupil broke her leg outside her school.

The nine-year-old ran into the side of a Nissan Almera after getting out of a BMW X5 which had stopped in the middle of Dryclough Road, outside Crosland Moor Junior School, yesterday at about 8.50am yesterday.

The girl, who was on her way to school, was pulled under the car, breaking her leg. She was taken to Huddersfield Royal Infirmary.

Now police and school headteacher Jane Richardson have urged parents to park safely and considerately outside the school to avoid further accidents.

Mrs Richardson said: “The parking outside our school is a constant battle. We sent letters to parents about it and we’ve sent another today.

“The problem abates and then it come straight back. It’s getting to the stage where we are having to get police officers and civil enforcement officers to fine people.”

The school was pressing for a drop-off point and walking bus, Mrs Richardson added.
