TWO groups caring for people with mental health issues are set to merge.

Concern for Mental Health and Depression Anxiety Self Help are joining forces to ensure people with mental health issues are given all the help they need.

The new group will be called S2R Support to Recovery.

Both groups think ‘bigger is better’ and hope to make more of an impact in helping people living with mental illnesses by working together.

David Wright, chairman of Concern for Mental Health, said: “The bigger we are the better we will be able to work with people who need help.’’

The group will offer a range of services that people can reach all the time. These include a befriending service and a day services.

The merger decision came after the Government said last year that it would be putting contracts for mental health work out to tender.

Mr Wright said: “Since both major political parties stated they wanted more work to be contracted out standing still was not an option.’’
