HEALTH decisions in North Kirklees are to benefit from the expertise of a new board member.
North Kirklees Primary Care Trust's board has appointed Hanif Momaniat as its new non-executive director.
Mr Momaniat, a service delivery manager for the Inland Revenue, has lived in Batley since 1997.
The married father-of-two has a wealth of local knowledge and has served on the governing body of Purlwell Infants School.
He was also deputy general secretary at Mount Pleasant Islamic Trust.
He said: "I am very proud to have joined the trust at a time of great change.
"I hope to use my skills and experiences acquired from my work and ethnic background to help it deliver a quality and cost effective service to the local community.
"The NHS is a new area for me and I am keen to learn how it all works."
Trust chairman Barry Seal welcomed Mr Momaniat to the post.
He said: "It is a great pleasure to have Hanif join us. His input will be invaluable as he and his fellow non-executive members provide a vital link between the public and the trust.
"The will help ensure the interests of the local community come first when the board makes decisions."
