SISTER Jacky Scott checks Barry Senior's blood pressure at Huddersfield Royal Infirmary as part of the national Stroke Awareness Week.

Staff from the stroke unit at St Luke's Hospital, Crosland Moor, and Ward 4 at the Infirmary supported the Eat A Rainbow - Beat a Stroke campaign for Stroke Awareness Week, which ended yesterday.

Both hospitals held all-day events to promote the week.

Displays, posters and leaflets were put up in the entrance to the Infirmary and St Luke's and staff gave advice on various stroke-prevention measures.

Eat a Rainbow is the main theme of the week, encouraging people to eat more healthy food.

Eating fruit and vegetables from each of the different colour bands every day - red, orange, yellow, green, blue/indigo/violet - will make up a healthy diet and reduce the chances of a stroke.
