A SCHOOL caretaker has been given a helping hand to tackle graffiti at her school.

Jean Marsh wanted something to clean the menace from wall panels at Upperthong Junior and Infant School.

She went to a West Yorkshire Police Target roadshow in Huddersfield three weeks ago. Target is the force's biggest ever crackdown on crime and the fear of crime.

At the roadshow, she spoke to town centre warden Ian Morelli, who was manning a caravan at the event.

"Jean told me about the problems the school was having with graffiti. As a goodwill gesture we gave a carton of a special substance we use to clean up in Huddersfield," said Mr Morelli.

Town centre wardens tackle a number of matters, including graffiti, litter, dog fouling and public order.

They are paid for by Kirklees Council and the Government's Neighbourhood Renewal scheme.
