Terrific gusts of wind tore a huge hole in the roof of a partially built filling station at Lepton this morning.
Metre after metre of the blue slate roof of the accompanying shop on Wakefield Road was ripped out by the 80mph-plus gusts.
Bradford-based businessman Tariq Nazir is now assessing the cost of repairing the damage.
The filling station complete with a 24-hour mini-market is set to reopen on the site of the old BP garage which was abandoned years ago.
Three pumps are due to be erected as well as a cash machine.
