A MAN who claimed that prison hadn’t worked for him was back in custody and facing a court after breaching his bail.
Heroin addict Gary Jackson was last in court on November 16.
He admitted stealing four cans of deodorant from Tesco on Viaduct Street in Huddersfield .
At the time Jackson, of Whitestone Lane in Hillhouse, was on conditional bail for shoplifting.
At the hearing Jackson, who has been jailed up to 40 times, asked magistrates not to send him to prison. He claimed that it had not helped him in the past.
Magistrates agreed to adjourn his case so that his suitability for a drugs rehabilitation requirement could be assessed. He was bailed to attend the Drugs Intervention Programme but he failed to turn up.
He was arrested and appeared before Kirklees magistrates yesterday for breaching the condition.
Ian Whiteley, mitigating, said that his client got his dates mixed up.
He asked the bench to readmit Jackson to bail so that his assessment could take place.
He was released on the same bail conditions to November 30.
