A sports club was bowled over after being awarded £73,000.
and Lightcliffe Bowling Club has received the money which was granted to enable them to breathe new life into their tired venue.
Sports England gave it the money as part of a £10 million bumper giveaway to grassroots clubs from its Inspired Facilities fund.
The group was selected due to their tireless work to help clubs less fortunate than itself to continue to play competitive bowls. It now has 200 members and 14 competitive bowling teams playing in eight different leagues.
Craig Whittaker, MP for Calder Valley, said: “I am delighted that the club has been provided with these essential funds to carry out much needed renovation.
“I hope this will also encourage and attract new members to join and support this wonderful asset in the community.”
