The school achieved an impressive 14% increase in the number of students achieving A – B grades, with most  delighted to be accepted at their first choice university.

Results were particularly strong in history, PE, French and German.

Departing head boy Oliver Firth gained his grades in business studies, PE and biology to secure a place studying Business & Management at Leeds Trinity University.

Head girl Marianne Suddards  got A levels in history, religious studies and psychology and now intends to study Psychology at Liverpool University.

Other notable successes included  James Brown, who is going on to study Law at BPP University, and Evie Ryan who was delighted to get the grades she needs to study Law at Hull University.

Takunda Manjanja is heading to  Birmingham University to study Biomedical Material Science, Stephanie Teale  will study Sport and Exercise Science at Leeds Met, and Christopher Moore is off to Sheffield Hallam to read Biomedical Sciences.

It was a positive year for the high number of students aiming for careers in the sciences.

Both Angus Hirst and Rebecca Firth will go on to study Modern Languages at Liverpool and Sheffield respectively.

Headmaster Jack Williams said:  “We are once again delighted with the results achieved by all our students at A and A/S level. They have all worked hard during Sixth Form and I have no doubt they will continue to flourish in their future studies and beyond.

“Their academic achievement, complemented by the commitment they have shown in extra-curricular activities and participation in our personal enrichment and leadership programme, will ensure success in their chosen careers.”
