Bands are getting ready to tread the boards at the historic Holmfirth Picturedrome to help turn a memorial skatepark into a reality.

Folk acts Old Man Pie and Druce and Jones will be joined by 10 other bands from around the area at the all day event which will kick off from 2pm tomorrow to raise money for the Skate4Isaac Group.

Folkus, White Wolves, Lucy Roberts, Jacob Fullalove, Imagine That, Anarchy in the Ukelele, Druce and Jones, Porch Lizards, Hiding From Olive and The Chokes will also join the uplifting line up, while compere Gary Duncan and friends will entertain the younger crowds with games and face paints.

An art auction held by Paul Dixon from W M Sykes & Sons will also offer attendees to get an original art piece by local artists, who have donated paintings to the cause.

Isaac Atkinson

It is the latest fundraising event held by the group which hopes to raise over £4,000 on the day to give a much-needed boost to their campaign to honour the memory of their friend and relative Isaac Atkinson, 14, who was found hanged in his bedroom in Burnlee Road in 2012.

They want to spend £55,000 on extending facilities at Sands Skate Park to include a stair set with handrails, more ramps and a bowl to be used by young people in the area and have so far raised just over £29,500.

Stepmother Sandra Atkinson said: “We are over half way there, but still need help to ensure that this great project goes ahead.”

Tickets for the concert cost £6 per adult and £3 per child and can be bought form the Box Office in Holmfirth.
