FOOTPATHS on a Huddersfield street are being dug up again - just weeks after they were resurfaced.

These pavements at Grasscroft Road in Marsh were resurfaced several weeks ago by contractors working for Kirklees Council.

But this week, residents discovered the pavement had been dug up again because the council were not satisfied with the job.

The footpath is currently being resurfaced again, at the contractor's own cost.

The work is not expected to last long.

A spokeswoman for Kirklees Council highways department said: "The work was originally carried out through our Pavement Resurfacing Budget at the direction of the local ward councillors.

"Unfortunately, some of the work was unsatisfactory and this part is being re-done at the contractor's own cost.

"The work will be carried out as quickly as possible."

She added that highways officers were happy to talk to residents about the work.
