DALTON girl Sarah Craven has sung her way to success.

Sarah, 11, came third in the final of a talent competition in Skegness last week.

Sarah, of Heathergrove Fold, won the initial heat of the talent contest at Richmond Holiday Centre in August, while she and her family were on holiday at the resort.

She was asked to return with the winners of other heats to battle it out in the final on the evening of September 4 - which was also her first day at Almondbury High School.

Her mum Carol said: "She was not looking forward to school, but she was looking forward to going back to Skegness.

"She sings a lot, it's one of her favourite things. She was really pleased to come third."

Sarah achieved her victory by singing Complicated, by teenage Canadian pop star Avril Lavigne and Whenever, Wherever, by Colombian diva Shakira.
