TWO carers and two residents from Mirfield’s Hollybank Trust completed a 10k run to raise cash.

Social care worker, Jamie Williams, 29, is a keen sportsman but this was his first race. He pushed James Massey, who lives on the main Hollybank Trust site in Mirfield, in his wheelchair along the whole course in 68 minutes.

Jamie said: “James was waving his arms and laughing towards the end so all the people watching the race waved back – that really spurred me on.”

Senior social care officer Mick Hewitt, 51, is a veteran runner and has competed half marathons, marathons and 10k runs.

He pushed Hollybank resident Sarah Brannan and finished the race in one hour.

They raised more that £200 which was split between the Wakefield Hospice and Hollybank Trust.
