HOLMFIRTH man Andy Bamforth has jetted off to Africa for a life-changing experience.

Mr Bamforth has flown to Dar Es Salaam in Tanzania as part of a month-long exchange scheme with Rotary International.

Rotary International clubs in Yorkshire are sending a team of four people to Tanzania, Zanzibar and Nairobi.

They will stay with African Rotary members and gain experience in their professional fields while working in demanding cultural situations.

The team is led by former North Yorkshire Chief Constable Della Cannings.

Mr Bamforth works in Huddersfield University’s directorate of estates and facilities and was sponsored for the visit by Denby Dale Rotary Club.

This visit is just one of many free group study exchange trips organised by the Rotary.

Around 1,600 people each year go on the trips to learn about different cultures and gain further skills in their profession.
