TALENTED musicians are invited to enter one of the region’s oldest running music festivals.

The 67th annual Holmfirth Musical Festival takes place at Holmfirth Civic Hall, on October 18-20.

The contest, which includes cash prizes, is open to musicians of all ages with classes in piano, guitar and other instruments as well as solo and choral vocal classes.

Classes will be judged by professional adjudicator Marilynne Davies.

The festival includes a £250 prize for the winner of the Holmfirth Millennium Trophy where Holme Valley residents are challenged to perform three contrasting pieces within 15 minutes.

Application forms for the festival, which must be returned by August 12, are available at: www.hmf.org.uk

Festival secretary Kath Kingdom said: “We’re a member of the British Federation of Music Festivals and we usually get lots of local people and people from outside the area.”
