A WOMAN let her boyfriend drive off with her dad’s car despite the fact that he had no licence or insurance.

Charlotte Bailey, of Woodhead Road in Holmfirth, was before Huddersfield magistrates yesterday. They were told that Miss Bailey, who has been driving for six years, had use of her dad’s car while he was away in New Zealand. On June 10, the 26-year-old was putting her children to bed when her boyfriend Kris Woods asked to use the car.

Sonia Kidd, defending, said: “She asked him not to take it because he had no licence and insurance.

“But he said he was taking it. She was dealing with the children but she accepts she should have been more vehement.”

Miss Bailey accepted the two charges of allowing Mr Woods to use the car on Sycamore Avenue, Golcar, without insurance or a licence. Magistrates ordered her to pay £200, which includes a fine, court costs and a victim surcharge. Miss Bailey also had her licence endorsed with five penalty points.
