A HUDDERSFIELD couple have proved that you don't have to look far to find love.

In fact neighbours Vicki and Wayne Sanderson found romance across the road in Longfield Avenue, Dalton.

Now enjoying their wedded bliss, they decided they didn't have to travel for continued happiness, either - their marital home is right next to both sets of parents.

They have settled next door to Wayne's mum and dad, Barry and Sandra, and Vicki's parents Wendy and Graham live almost opposite.

"We are both homely characters and didn't want to move away. So we decided to buy this house next door to my mother-in-law," said Vicki.

"We don't actually see her that much. The house isn't like theirs inside - ours is a semi and theirs is detached."

The 24-year-old hairdresser at Hairlines in Mount, and Wayne, 24, a joiner, met about nine years ago.

"A group of us used to hang around together. I knew Wayne for a couple of years before we started going out together," she said.

Vicki moved to Longfield Avenue when she was four and Wayne's family moved there when he was seven. "We have lived there ever since - we just know the area," says Vicki. "We looked at other houses but didn't see any we liked. This house is similar to my mum and dad's - but my taste in decoration is a bit more modern than theirs."

The couple dated for seven years before tying the knot at Gledholt Methodist Church on August 7.

Vicki's sister Gemma, however, is not likely to be such a home bird.

"Her boyfriend lives in Wakefield so she goes there quite a bit," said Vicki.
