Armed robbers raided a Honley betting shop this evening.

The attack was at Jack Pearsons bookmakers in Honley .

No-one was believed hurt but police mounted a big investigation.

They issued an appeal for any witnesses.

Det Sgt Paul Keitch, of Kirklees CID, said: “Police were called at 5.22pm to a report of a robbery at a bookmakers in Church Street, Honley.

“Two men, one believed to be armed with a knife, entered the premises and demanded money from a staff member.

“The two men have left with cash in an unknown direction.

“An area search has been conducted for the two suspects and other enquiries are ongoing including taking witness statements and reviewing any CCTV opportunities.”

The West Yorkshire Police helicopter joined the hunt for the robbers shortly before 6pm and flew over the village.

Other officers were making house-to-house enquiries in streets around the village centre.
