HONLEY Probus Club has celebrated its 25th anniversary.

The club held its 25th annual general meeting at Honley Community Centre on Tuesday, followed by a celebratory buffet.

The club is one of hundreds of Probus clubs across the country, which are social groups for retired professionals and businessmen.

The Honley Probus Club meets twice a month on Tuesday mornings and members are entertained by a guest speaker.

The club has 71 ordinary members and 29 senior members, aged over 80.

Secretary Cliff Green said: “There are lots of Probus clubs in this area but none as big as this I think. It is very popular, possibly thanks to the quality of speakers we have. That is very important.”

He said new members are welcome and anyone interested in joining should contact him on 01484 664277.
