IT’S a glittering tribute to a traditional Christmas.
And the stunning display of festive lights outside a Honley pub has won it an award.
The Jacobs Well has been named the Thwaites Best Decorated Pub for Christmas 2012.
That’s a tribute to the hard work of licensees Grahame and Sue Nutt, who opened the pub in August.
The pair are no strangers to the trade, having spent much of the past 30 years running pubs, including The Farmers Arms in Burnlee, Holmfirth.
Now the husband and wife team have truly embraced the Christmas season with an array of lights, swags, garlands, icicles and baubles, transforming the front of the pub.
Grahame said: “It has proved quite an attraction. People driving past are stopping to have a look and those coming in are delighted.
“We wanted to do something a bit special and recruited a friend of ours, Jamie Kitchen-Dunn of KD Decoratives, to design and make the displays.
“Now we can look forward to a great display for the next few years.
“The pub is getting more and more popular and we hope the lights will help us make it a success.
“Christmas is a wonderful time of year and we were keen to ensure we created festive cheer for regulars and visitors alike. We’re delighted to have picked up the award especially in our first year with Thwaites.”
The couple invested £35,000 into the pub and were helped by the brewery in a major refit.
Now they are hoping for some real festive cheer – but are adamant the lights will be down by Twelfth Night.
