HUDDERSFIELD pensioners have pledged their support to a campaign to prevent local hospital services moving to Halifax.

Members of Huddersfield and District Pensioners' Organisation discussed the changes, proposed by the Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Trust.

The trust wants to move maternity, gynaecology, children's services and planned surgery from Huddersfield Royal Infirmary to the Calderdale Royal Hospital.

At the meeting, at St Patrick's Catholic Centre in Trinity Street, members agreed to do all they could to support campaigns to keep services in Huddersfield.

Guest speaker Joe Power, of Kirklees Law Centre, also gave a talk.

He told members about the benefits they were entitled to and how to claim them.
