MEETERS and greeters are needed for a volunteer service at Huddersfield Royal Infirmary.

Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Trust is recruiting volunteers to join a new team for welcoming patients and visitors to the hospital.

The service starts at the hospital on Thursday January 29.

Work will involve welcoming patients and visitors at the entrance of HRI and escorting them to where they are going or helping with any enquiries.

Mrs Joan Watson has been working as a volunteer for 28 years.

She said: "I really enjoy working at the hospital and meeting all the new people that come in."

The Trust has 70 volunteers at the infirmary but would like more people to help out.

They need to be 16 years and over, fit and active, have a good sense of humour and are willing to give up at least one morning or afternoon a week.

Anyone interested should contact Lin Lawrence on 01484 342996.
