HUDDERSFIELD Royal Infirmary is to share in a £100,000 boost for its performance in accident and emergency care.

Some 94% of casualty patients are seen within four hours.

Health Secretary John Reid is giving the extra money to Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Trust as a reward.

It will be used to develop services at HRI and Calderdale Royal Hospital in Halifax.

Hospital staff have been praised by Colne Valley Labour MP Kali Mountford for their work.

She said: "With three grandchildren who occasionally fall off their bikes or take a tumble, I have some experience of the really great service they provide.

"I'm really pleased that the staff's hard work and improved performance has been rewarded," added Ms Mountford.
