A MAN was held hostage at knifepoint in a house in Huddersfield last night.
Police sealed off William Street for two hours as the man made threats.
A trained negotiator was called in to help Huddersfield officers and talked to the man.
The stand-off eventually ended after two hours.
A 48-year-old man was arrested and a second man, who had been in the house, was released unharmed.
The drama began in the quiet street of terraced houses close to Fitzwilliam Street at 8.30pm.
A police spokesman said: "We received a call to say that a man was making threats against another man in a house.
"The scene was secured by officers and a dialogue was established with the people in the house. It ended at 10.45pm when a man was arrested.
No-one was hurt in the incident and a knife was recovered from the scene".
Police later confirmed a 48-year-old Huddersfield man was being questioned at Huddersfield Police Station.
