THE owner of a country hotel near Huddersfield has exp- anded into South Yorkshire.
David Broadbent, who owns the Pennine Manor Hotel at Scapegoat Hill, has bought Whitley Hall Hotel at Grenoside, near Sheffield.
He said both hotels had similar standards of service, adding: "I am looking forward to watching them both grow as part of the same family."
The Sheffield hotel has been run by the same family for 40 years.
But owner Trevor Fearn has sold the property to retire.
Mr Broadbent has more than 30 years' experience in the hotel industry.
He managed a series of five-star hotels across the UK before buying the Fountain pub at Ingbirchworth 13 years ago.
Mr Broadbent bought the Pennine Manor Hotel two years ago.
Since then, the hotel has enjoyed a thriving weddings and conference trade.
The number of employees looking after its 33 bedrooms and function suites has risen from 40 to 60.
Whitley Hall, which dates back to Tudor times, has 35 staff. It has 20 en-suite bedrooms, three conference suites and a function room for up to 100 people.
