CHRISTMAS and new year bin collection times have been announced - with a plea for everyone to keep the amount of waste down by recycling.
People in Kirklees are being urged to do their bit by making sure bottles and paper are kept separate from ordinary grey bins.
Stickers are being placed on bins advising of collection days over the festive season.
Collections will follow a similar pattern to last year, operating as normal up to, and including, Thursday, December 23.
Green bins for recyclable waste will not be emptied over the Christmas and new year holiday.
Environmental waste and transport manager Roger Wilson said: "During the two weeks from Christmas Eve lunchtime, every household will miss one collection."
He added: "We get an immense amount of co-operation from householders throughout the year and I would like to thank everyone for that, and for their help and understanding, which I hope we will get once again, over the festive period.
"The aim will be for the collection crews to catch up with collections as quickly as possible and for as much information as possible to be given to residents, so that everyone knows when their bins will be emptied."
He urged everyone to reduce waste by using green wheeled bins for recyclable waste, or bottlebanks and recycling points.
The five household waste and recycling centres are at Emerald Street, Huddersfield; Bent Ley Road, Meltham; Bromley Farm, Upper Cumberworth; Thornhill Road, Dewsbury, and Nab Lane, Birstall.
They will be open throughout the holiday period, except for Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year's Day.
The winter opening hours are 8am to 4pm Monday to Saturday, and 9am to 4pm Sunday, except Meltham which has different weekend opening hours.
Meltham opens from 8am to noon on Saturday and 9am to 1pm on Sunday.
