MORE THAN 1,600 homes were plunged into darkness last night after a power cut.
The cut hit 1,624 homes in Golcar, Longwood and other parts of Huddersfield. They were plunged into darkness at 9.24pm because of a fault on an underground cable.
Engineers got 1,607 homes back on by 10.55pm, with the rest getting supplies back at 3.40am.
A Yorkshire Electricity Distribution spokesman said work was being carried out on the cable to correct the problem.
