HOUSING staff will be given a £300,000 boost to provide top-class customer care.

The Anywhere Anytime service will be introduced by the Yorkshire Housing Group.

It is to recruit a 33-strong workforce to deliver a friendly, approachable and personal service for customers.

The scheme will serve people in Kirklees and Calderdale and Yorkshire Homes hope it will ensure residents will know who to contact if they have any problems.

Yorkshire Housing spokesman Roy Wallington said: “This is all about good old-fashioned housing management.

“With each of our housing officers looking after about 290 homes it means they can get to know their customers really well.”

Them scheme comes after feedback from the tenants, who said they didn’t like using a call centre service to get information or report problems.

New services will include assessing the individual needs of tenants, helping them settle into a new community and advising them if they are struggling financially.

Housing officers will also be able to deal with any reports of anti-social behaviour.

Mr Wallington added: “Most of the services we provide are most effectively handled when the customer can trust the person they are speaking with.

“Through this investment we hope to reinforce the importance of delivering a face-to-face service, instead of impersonal conversations over the phone.”
