A talented wedding duo have won a prestigious award at a glamorous ceremony in London.
Huddersfield-based acoustic guitar band Rock My Reception scooped the Best Newcomer title at The 2014 Wedding Industry Awards.
Kieran Stokes and Dominic Beresford, who perform for couples on their special day, were also confirmed as winners of the Best Wedding Live Entertainment category for the north-west.
Kieran and Dominic met at school at the age of nine. Along with current chart hits, they are able to play the entire Beatles back catalogue.
Dominic said: “To go down to the capital and bring the trophy back to Yorkshire is a real coup.”
Kieran added: “Winning the Best Newcomer is a fantastic achievement and we feel we have warranted the win, given the hard work we have put into launching Rock My Reception.”
A total of 1,250 companies entered the competition and more than 23,000 votes were cast to determine the regional shortlist. A panel of experts then chose the regional winners, all of whom went to the final.
Damien Bailey, founder of The Wedding Industry Awards, said he was thrilled with the ceremony, which took place at The Bloomsbury Ballroom.
He added: “The Wedding Industry Awards really have become the gold standard for wedding excellence in this country. We have done all the hard work in selecting the very best and couples can now enjoy choosing top-quality suppliers with no worries.”
The awards have now been given for the third time and the founder said the standard of entry was higher than ever.
Damien added: “It’s becoming harder and harder to pick winners from such an amazing shortlist, but Rock My Reception deserved their success.”
